Occupations
Occupations allow a character to passively train one of his alternate stats. For example becoming a paperboy will raise your speed by 1 per day at the cost of 20% of your regerneration speed. Later on occupations will allow you to become a special ninja. Working at the hospital for example may allow you to become a medical ninja! It does not look like occupations give any benefit currently besides raising a stat passively.
Currently, the only available occupation is Paper Boy. However, many more are to come!
Promotion
Promotions are gained by simply being hired in a certain position for a certain amount of time. There is nothing special at this time you need to do in order to be promoted.

Additonal Occupations
Bounty Hunter (Chuunin Required)- Hunts Outlaws For Bounties, which are set by killing Villager's Robbing, and player's raising the bounties. Also A Bingo Book which can track down the location, bounty, and ID of the felon.
Medical Ninja (Genin Required)- Heals Wounded Villagers at the starting cost of 1 HP for every Chakra Point you use. Every Level (10k Experience/Health Healed), the heal rate increases by 0.10 so each chakra point spent heals 1.1 instead and so on.
If you quit your job, you lose ALL job status, except for Medical-Nin. Outlaws have no access to occupations.
